WAITING IN ANTICIPATION

Do you remember when you were a kid, for me that was a long time ago, and you were going someplace special. The zoo, on vacation or even shopping. These were probably special things in your life. Well I have to tell you that even at my age, I won't tell, certain events bring me back to the excitement of my childhood. This particular event is coming up shortly and that is the opening of the Yogi Bear Camp Resort where I have a camper. Shortly the water will be turned on, the gates will be opened the snow birds will be returning from parts where it was warm during the winter and friends will once again be gathering around a campfire with tales of the past winter. It will be good to see these friends after a long winter, take rides in my golf cart, take walks and fish in the lake behind my camper. My granddaughters are really looking forward to it too and will enjoy the planned activities they provide for the youngsters. They too enjoy the nightly fires when they can roast marshmallows and hot dogs and sample all of the other goodies that are brought to the fire by others. At times we will have about 15+ people at our fire, young and old. A good mixture of folks. The nice thing is that it is just a little over an hour to get there. Right down Rt 30, East to Plymouth, In. Can't wait to get there.

DAYS TO LIVE FOR.

This is a day the Lord created to tell us winter is almost over. Just a taste of what is to come. It was 68 degrees today, bright and sunshiny. Just beautiful. Taking advantage of this day I took my granddaughters to the park so they could play and I could watch the endless parade of people walking and jogging. Being in the category of old men, I enjoy seeing the younger opposites and there was an abundance out today. People walking the next generation of workers and politicians in strollers or holding their hand as they wobbled back and forth to keep from falling. I remember those days. To long ago. After the kids had their fill of playing we came home and sat on the patio. Living in a neighborhood of mixed ages, this too was an endless parade of people walking to start trimming down for summer. All in all it was a wonderful day. I hope you enjoyed yours.

SHARING BREAKFAST IN TEXAS

Today is Saturday and not having to get up early to get Spencer to school, my daughter takes advantage of this day to sleep in a little. Upon waking this morning she checked the boys room and Spencer was snoring and smiling, probably dreaming about Transformers or something. Aiddins bed was empty. Looking around and not being able to find him her biggest fear was that Aiddin must have gotten out of the house and was wandering the neighborhood. She looked out front and in the yard, no Aiddin. As a matter of fact the dogs were gone too. With the house being quiet she went from room to room listening for any sound of life. Her bedroom. Nothing. The spare bedroom, nothing so she went back into the boys room where Spencer was still snoring and smiling. Upon listening again the sound of crunch, crunch was coming from under the bed. She looked under there and there was Aiddin and the two dogs sharing a box of Captain Crunch for breakfast. They must have been under there awhile because it was a new box of cereal and now it was about a quarter full. When they came out from under the bed the dogs were licking their chops and had full bellies and the first thing out of Aiddins mouth was, "mommy make pancakes". I tell you that little guy is full of surprises and good stories.

MY POOR BOY SPENCER

Poor little Spencer had a bad day at school last week Thursday. He brought home some papers that had bad grades on them. Mom knew that if dad saw them the poor little guy would spend some quality time standing in the corner or get a few swats with the belt. Mom took pity on him and put the papers in the trash. Enters the villain, wicked stepsister who when taking the garbage out happened to see the papers on top and took them to dad saying "daddy, did you see Spencer's papers from school today". Dad got upset, yelled at mom and my poor Spencer did do time in the corner as well as get two swats with the belt. I don't approve of the belt and as for the stepsister, she should have kept her mouth shut. She seems to always want to get people in trouble. She is there only the weeks dad is home but creates a lot of tension at the household.
