I know I said it was the end of camping season but not exactly, it is not really over until October 17 when they turn off the water. I was referring to the activities during the day and night. No more dances, hay rides, and whatever else the park does to entertain folks who come here to camp. It is now closed to the public and only lot owners can enter.
Last Saturday was the big event of dropping candy from an airplane and letting the kids run onto the field to gather the goodies. In the evening it was time for the giant fire which was the burning of skids donated by one of the lot owners. There must have been 500 skids to burn and that is just what happend them, they were burned. Hot dogs, chips and brownies were also part of the party. The flames were two, three stories high and heat from the fire was something else.
From now until the 17 of October it will be putting stuff away for the winter and at night sitting around a campfire and talking about what went on during the summer and of course trying to stay warm as the temperature drops in the evening.
All I can say is that I will miss all my friends with their jokes and laughs.
Hope I will be there again next summer.
