HOW IMPORTANT IS GOING GREEN TO YOU?

President O is for going Green. He even signed a bill to promote it. What are your thoughts about going Green?
Take the survey and let others know what your thoughts are.

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT PAUL

Thanks Paul. It's nice to know people do read my blog.
I'm sure that your mother has better control over the amount of food she has on hand for her customers. I think that, at the Golden Coral it might have been a case of bad management as far as the food was concerned. There will always be people who will try to take advantage, especially at these big places where they are not being watched.
Again, thanks for the comment.

WHERE DID THE FOOD GO?

This past Sunday one of the biggest buffet chain restaurants had to close it's doors early. It closed it's doors to new customers at 7:15 instead of 9 because they ran out of certain items that are a favorite with customers. One women paid $50.00 for her and her friends to eat. They ate, but as the food began to diminish she then decided she wanted a refund. Look lady, you ate, got your belly full so leave. Instead the police were called to settle the matter. No refund was give. Good. Sometimes people take advantage.
Think about it. Who ran other buffet restaurants out of business? It was people who paid to eat but at the same time brought LARGE purses with baggies, tin foil and whatever else they could put food in so they could take it home for the rest of the family. This is not right. If anyone is caught doing this they should be escorted out of the restaurant right then and there. If they are not finished eating, too bad.
One person commented that she felt sorry for a hungry family ( how did she know they were hungry) who came from Chicago to eat but were turned away. There are at least 20 places to eat in this area including Old Country Buffet just a few blocks away.
Managers tried to give vouchers to customers to return another day but that wasn't looked upon in a good light. Go ahead folks and turn down a free meal. That alone tells you the class of people who go there. Those kind of customers the restaurant doesn't need.

SURVEY ON AMERICAN IDOL

What are your opinions on Anerican Idol. I like to watch only the auditions, after that I don't watch. Another thought is I don't think that the public should be able to vote for the contestants.
Let us hear from you, the American public.

LET'S BRING BACK THE OLD DAYS

Remember when milk was 25 cents a gallon and we all yelled and screamed when it went to 75? How about all the other things that were part of the good old days that us old timers have watched go completely out of sight.
I may be wrong but Mr. President you should try to bring back some of those perks that us American citizens remember so well. Maybe we can help the economy by doing what was done when a person bought a car years ago and that was to let them deduct the interest they paid from their income tax. Oh sure the charge card industry was giving away cards to all that applied and they were giving low interest rates. Now that they have flooded the market and are taking a loss they are raising interest rates to 22, 23 and even 30%. How about letting the American people deduct that interest from their income tax returns as we did years ago.
Oh to be young again and have to do it all over again. What changes I would make.

ULTIMATE PAINTBALL

What do you like to do? Fish, paint, hunt, whatever it is I'm sure you enjoy it but may I suggest something else to do that is just as much if not more fun and that is getting teams together and having a paint ball fight. I know just the place for you to get equipment that you will need and that place is http://www.pntball.com/. They specialize in supplying the best equipment at the best prices to teams and individuals. You can buy separate pieces or get a complete set, whatever suits your needs. They sell top of the line guns line the Tippmann A-5, Tippmann 98 Custom, Smart Parts Ion and Spy Pilot.
I can honestly say and will say that I have not fired a paintball gun but there is a paintball course near the campground where I have a camper and a few of us have been looking into going there and see what it is all about. Then going to a paintball online company like Ultimate Paintball to get out equipment. I have looked at this site and compared prices at local stores and I have to say Ultimate Paintball has a far better selection of paintball guns, masks, vests and paintballs.
So when and if you are going to invest in an exciting sport don't forget Ultimate Paintball and get top of the line equipment here.

SPENCER THE FENCER

Now that Spencer has his cast off, things are pretty much back to normal. For Christmas he and his brother, Aiddin got Star Wars Light Swords and since Spencer's arm was in a cast he was pretty limited as to what he could do. Spencer and Aiddin like to sword fight with their swords but I think that they have been put away for awhile. Reason: The two boys were sword fighting in the living room and were told by mom to go outside. They can do this since they live in Texas and the temp is in the 80's.
Boys just don't listen. The battle went on without paying attention to mom's words. Things did come to an abrupt end. Picture this. Two young boys sword fighting with rather long swords. Dog sleeping on couch. End table at end of couch with a lamp on it. Sword fight heats up, Spencer takes a wild swing at Aiddin and sword comes down and smacks sleeping dog. Dog gets the daylights scared out of him, jumps up and takes off toward end of couch knocking lamp off of the table. Did lamp break? It sure did. Spencer and Aiddin stand there with mouths open as mom approaches. Both start crying before she even gets there to inflict punishment. Both get a smack on the butt, time in the corner and swords put away until, who knows.
As I always say, "boys will be boys" and "what goes around comes around." Right mom?

DID IT SNOW?

After listening to the weatherman with his threats about " the big storm" and getting prepared I'm sure people who have to get up in the morning and go to school or work are very pleased to see that it did not materialize. On the other hand the day that the newspaper said that there would be occasional snow showers we got about 7 inches.
I felt sorry for those who had to travel the roads to work but on the other had I did my time doing the same. I worked down town Chicago for 40 years and during that time I saw a lot of snow and did a lot of driving in it.
As I sat looking out of my window with my cup of coffee I reflected back on those days and remembered how I did not miss them. You must admit it was very beautiful how the snow was coming down in large flakes and no wind to blow it around, just coming down like soft feathers. I couldn't pass up the chance to take a few pictures one being of the patio table which looked like a large marshmallow cup cake.
The view looking down the block and seeing a perfect blanket of snow with no footprints to spoil it. Then came the plows to do the streets, sidewalks and driveways and the beauty was gone only, I guess, to come another day.
My daughter called from Texas and said I hear it is snowing by you and then added it's 78 degrees here. I hung up on her as a joke but called her right back. She moved there 7 years ago and misses the snow. Come on back ya'll.

THOU SHALT NOT STEAL

Do as I say not as I do. It's bad enough that the Catholic Church has to be dragged through the "little boy" mud puddle now it is being dragged through another puddle. Stealing.
News item from Delray Beach, Fl. Two priests, Rev. Francis Guinan and Monsignor John Skehan are being accused of stealing money from the church's offering plate and hid it in the church ceiling and offshore bank accounts to pay for their lavish lifestyles. Their trial is scheduled to start today in an embezzlement case that authorities say could be one of the biggest to hit the Catholic Church.
Lets see what the judge has to say about this. I don't think it will be "do as I say, not as I do."

SPENCER GETS HIS CAST OFF

My grandson Spencer who lives in Texas broke his arm some time ago while riding his Razor skate board which I bought him for his birthday. One thought comes to mind. I am responsible?. Maybe not. Well anyway he wore this beautiful blue arm cast for eight weeks. The cast was supposed to come off on December 23, but mom forgot and missed the appointment. The new appointment was set for yesterday 1-13 at 3:00. This time mom remembered and she, Spencer, Angelica and Aiddin arrived at the Dr's office to witness the removal of the cast. All were gathered around Spencer when the Dr. sawed the cast off and what a surprise they got. The arm being in this cast for so long with showers, sweating and what not stunk, stank, smelled (whatever you want to call it) so bad that they all almost threw up. They gaged but did not throw up. The Dr. asked Spencer if he wanted to keep the cast and Lorri (mom) popped up and said no but Spencer insisted they keep it. It was put into a bag which was not big enough for it and presented it to Spencer who proudly walked through the waiting room carrying it.
Mom had some shopping to do so when they went into Wal-Mart they left the cast in the van. It was 88 degrees out. When they returned over an hour later and opened the door, the smell almost knocked them out. They had to leave the windows open on their ride back to Shiner from Victoria, Texas. At this time the cast sits in a place of honor outside on the deck until it is possible to bring it into Spencer's room.

IT'S TIME TO TAKE IT DOWN.

With the season over it is now time to take it down. I, of course am referring to the Christmas tree. It's not real so I don't have to worry about it drying out and possibly causing a fire. It is a nice tree, a tree that was purchased about seven years ago from Menards on BLACK FRIDAY.
It is a bittersweet time because it is a pretty tree with the sparkling lights, tinsel, gold garland and favorite ornaments, yet at the same time it is taking up space and maybe in my mind I am getting a little tired of looking at it. Because I am getting up in years one thought comes to mind and that is will I be here next year to put it back up. That thought has come to mind for the past 25 years and I am still here although my wife is not. She is an angel decorating a tree in Heaven. It's funny because when I am decorating it and I put a ornament on the tree there are times when a voice whispers in my ear "it doesn't belong there" so I move it.
Needless to say it will be coming down tomorrow and put away until next year when I will be putting it back up.

DO YOU LIKE MAGIC?

The other night I was watching the 2008 World Magic Awards on tv and it brought back memories of years past when I did magic, nothing big time but for my own enjoyment and also small parties for children. That all ended when I did something I never did before. I had my car loaded the day before a show and left it on the driveway. Yep, you guessed it, it was stolen that night. I never got any of the equipment back. The only thing that I could hope for was when, whoever took it got poked in the eye when they were figuring how to work the spring loaded cane.
Anyway getting back to the awards. It was a two hour show. Very fast and very flashy with good tricks. One that stood out in my mind was a young fellow from Germany who had a person come from the audience to help. The magician handed the audience assistant a paint ball gun and produced paint balls of various colors and asked the assistant to choose one and then put his initial on it. It was loaded into the gun and the magician told the assistant to fire the paint ball into his mouth. There was a laser beam on the gun so that helped with the accuracy of shooting the ball into his mouth. The ball was fired from the gun and the magician fained having the ball in his mouth and go down his throat. He produced either a string or thin chain and put it around his neck and proceeded to pull it through his neck. With the camera closeup of his neck he pulled the string (chain) through his neck and from his throat came the the string with the ball attached to it. The ball was the one that was signed by the assistant. Great trick, one I had never seen before.
I know it wasn't real but it still makes one wonder. Is it real or not.
