CHILDREN AND COSTUMES ON PARADE!!!!

Today was a nice day. Temp 61 overcast and it was the day that the Protsman School in Schererville, Indiana had the annual Halloween party and parade around the building. It has become a tradition and everyone, kids, parents, friends and grandparent's, look forward to it. There was not a parking space available within three blocks of the school and those spaces were taken up by the 200+ people who came to cheer and take pictures of the children.
I can just imagine the excitement of the children inside the school as they were getting into the costumes. Help me button this, help me zip this or help me tie this. I' m glad I was outside waiting instead of inside with the teachers and their helpers.
At exactly 1:15 the doors of the school opened and the children started filing out in single file, led by their teachers, some in costume, some not. You could hear the excitement within the crowd as they looked for their loved one or one's dressed in a array of monsters, super hero's, princesses and any other thing you could think of.
It lasted all of 20 minutes and the children were back in the building getting ready for the class parties at which I am sure they had a good time.

I know my granddaughter Delaney brought home a goodly some of goodies.
It's a great tradition that everyone looks forward too and I hope it never ends like other traditions we grew to know have.

OUR UTILITY COMPANY AT WORK - NOT

My son had his service turned off on Thursday. He called and they told him that he was short 39.00. In the summer he had a large bill and was told he could pay the $39.00 along with the regular payment until he was caught up. No telling him that if he was late he would not get a shut-off notice. He was told it would be turned on Friday. He went to the store on Friday and upon his return there was a NIPSCO crew placing a lock on his meter. He told them that he had a receipt for payment with a reference number but was told they had a work order and there was nothing they could do. He called and the rep. said she would have to put another work order through and power would be restored the next business day which was Monday. So no power over the weekend. He then spoke to a supervisor who said all crews were busy restoring power to several hundred people without power due to heavy rains. This was at 3:00 pm on Friday when he spoke to the supervisor who then told him there was nothing he could do to help him since they don't work on the weekend so he would have to make other arrangements.
The outcome is spoiled food, milk and juices as well as inconvenience for just $39.00
Our power company at work and ready to serve.

TURNED THE KEY FOR THE LAST TIME THIS SEASON.

When I woke this morning the sun was shinning and not a cloud in the sky and I said to myself, what a beautiful day to go to the camper. One thing was wrong. The temperature was only 43 degrees. I did go to the camper but this was the last time this season and my reason for the trip was to shut everything down, empty the refrigerator, clean out the cabinets and go home until May of next year.
I was there about three hours when I took a final ride on the golf cart before I covered it up for the winter. I loaded the car and then locked the camper for the last time this year. It was a depressing time but my spirits were picked up as I drove home and saw the beautiful display of colors mother nature gave me to look at on my ride. She did a beautiful job.
Now I have a lot of TV to catch up on, reading and just being alone.

CLOSING DAY

Tomorrow I will be up bright and early, get my coffee and head for the campground. The weatherperson said that it is going to be cold and raining. That's OK because I am not going to stay. All of my friends have closed up for the season and that is my mission.
I will put away the decorations and anything else that can blow away during a winter storm. Unhook the hose and put that in the shed. The biggest job will be to empty the refrigerator and wash it out.
When all of the above is done there will be only one thing left to do and that is take a last of the season ride on the golf cart through the park. When that is done I will put the cart on my patio and cover it with a tarp and weigh it down so it won't blow away.
Then it will be time to call my friend Dana who will winterize it for me so the pipes won't freeze.
When all is done it will be time to get back into my van and say goodbye until next year when, God willing, I will be back to enjoy another summer with my friends.

OUR DAY

Tomorrow, regardless what the weather is I will go purchase a dozen roses and a anniversary card. You see, October 9,1965 is the day that I married the most wonderful girl in the world. Together we made a home with three children, dogs and various other pets. Without her none of this would have been possible.
On the 9th of October 2009 we would have been married 44 years. We would sit and talk about my retiring and what we would do to enjoy the rest of our life together. I retired in July of 2000 and two weeks later she was diagnosed with Multiplemyeloma a bone marrow cancer. With the aid of doctors at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and various trials she beat the expected life expectancy of two years and stretched it into six years. During that time we were able to travel, go out for lunch and her favorite, looking at model homes. Then on October 3, 2005 she was taken down with a stroke and passed away February 13, 2006 the day before Valentines day. That's an easy day to remember. I bring flowers of different colors every week but this day is special, she will get roses and a card.
Happy anniversary Andie.
I love you.

BEACH CRUISER BIKES.

Bikes are a big thing today. Big bikes, little bikes, slow bikes and fast bikes. But there is a company that does not call them bikes, they call them beach cruisers. They are a sleek, stylish bike that is made for everyone, young and old. They have a website that will show you what they have to offer and site is http://www.cruiserstyle.com/. I know what's going through your mind right now and that is "with a fancy name like that, they must cost a lot of money" NOT!!!!!.
They are moderately priced bikes as you would find anywhere else. The cruisers come in one speed or multi speeds. Both men and women styles are available.
If you want to get fancy with a bike, check out the XYZ Beach Cruiser Chopper. Now this is a bike, a motorcycle without the motor. Really unique. You'll be the talk of the beach or neighborhood if you are seen riding a xyz beach cruiser.
I recommend that you check out http://www.cruiserstyle.com/ to make your next purchase of a neat bike (cruiser). If you have an questions, you can contact them right on the site as well as see pictures of the cruisers and xyz beach cruiser.
Enjoy your day in style.
