WEEEEEEE FOR WII

A couple of months ago my doctor told me I had to lose weight and exercise more. Actually it was last year. I was gung ho about it so I started dieting and I bought a walking machine, you know what that is, did good for awhile and then stopped. Saw my Dr. again two months ago and he said the same thing. I just can't get into a morning, afternoon or evening ritual.
My granddaughter got a WII for Christmas and it seemed like a lot of fun.
Yesterday I bought one using some reward cards I received from Best Buy and ATT. By using those cards it only cost me $90.00. With it came a game cartridge called WII Sport. On it is tennis, bowling, baseball, golf and boxing. This unit is one of the most fun things I ever had. Not only am I having fun playing the games but I can actually work up a sweat which means that I am working out. When I play these games I lose track of time and before I know it I have been playing for an hour or more. Each game is designed to work your whole body which is great for me. By using this unit I think, no, I know that I can do what the doctor ordered.
I also have the WII Fit and it told me that I am obese and have the body of a 75 year old man. I am 69.
Those of you who have one know what I am talking about. Glad I bought it.

THE WAIT IS OVER.

The long awaited day for the return of my daughters fiancee arrived on Tuesday. Fort Hood was all hustle and bustle awaiting arrival of the troops. The troops were arriving at 4:15 pm so said the official voice on the phone when my daughter was called and given this information. Her boss, I guess, felt guilty for not giving her enough time to pick up the kids and get to Ft. Hood. She was letting her off at 3:30. Ad it turned out she let her off at 2:00.
Before going to the greeting area it was required that you had to get a visitors pass. There was only one person issuing these passes and my daughter was number 727 and it was already getting close to arrival time. She got her pass, got the kids put into the car and off to the air field they went. They got there with no time to spare.
You could not see the troops get off of the planes but when they did arrive they were on buses. All visitors were in the bleachers and standing around the bleachers when the buses pulled up. The exit doors were facing away from the crowd so that the troops could exit the buses and get into formation. After about 20 minutes the spectators started yelling "move the buses" and they did reveling the many troops standing in formation. There was a short ceremony and then they were released.
Can you imagine almost 1000 people trying to find each other. My daughters phone started ringing and her boyfriend was asking where she was. Fortunately she was standing next to a woman who was holding several yellow balloons. With that as a guide they finally met.
Among all who were there, there were many hugs, kisses and tears.
When Jereme and Lorri met he dropped to one knee and said I have something cool to show you and went into his bag and pulled out a beautiful ring and said "will you marry me" and of course the answer was yes. Lorri looked at the kids and smiled and both Angelica and Spencer, my grand kids were crying.
I guess you could call that a happy ending to a busy day.
God Bless Lorri and Jereme and all of the men and women in the armed forces around the world.

TODAY IS THE LONG AWAITED DAY.

Today my daughters fiancee comes home from Iraq. God Bless him and all that come home with him.
My daughter has the whole house decorated, inside and out, with balloons and banners. One thing is wrong. The woman she works for will not let her off in time to see the plane come in. The plane arrives at 4:30 and the woman is letting her off at 3:30. Lorri has to pick up the kids from school, drive to Ft Hood and get a visitors pass and drive to the area where the plane is coming in. THIS CAN'T BE DONE IN AN HOUR LADY. WAKE UP.
There is no reason she could have not taken the entire day off. Or does she have to, even though it is not her job, pick up the dog crap in your yard and watch you new born grandchild. Even two or three hours would have been fine. All involved have been waiting for this day a long time. Your daughters husband is coming home too, is she not able to go meet him?
This is not being the good Christian that you say you are.
NUF SAID. IRATE FATHER.

BOB PRESTI IS 70!!!!!!

I am going to my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws home today to spend the night with them. It is a special occasion with that occasion being my brother-in-law Bob's big 70th year birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB. There will be some other family members present to enjoy the day with Bob and we will have, I am sure, a good meal and desert.
I have known Bob for 44 years. One year prior to marrying my wife Andie, until how. That was back in 1965. As long as I have known him he has always been a stand up guy. Being there whenever you need him. He comes from a family of, I believe, 12 children of which he is the youngest. His sister will be there to enjoy this day with him.
Once again HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a fine fellow, Bob.
If you have noticed I have not made fun of him because of his reaching 70 and that is because I will also reach that age in June.

WHEN WILL THEY UNDERSTAND?

This particular story comes from Mesa, Arizona and involves two teenagers, 17 year old brother and a 16 year old sister.
The sister drove her brother, Dwight J. Brock Jr. to a shopping mall for whatever reason. Upon dropping him off they started goofing around with him jumping in front of the car and her slamming on the brakes to avoid hitting him. The last time he jumped in front of the car she was unable to stop and ran him over. Dwight was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
What a tragic end to such a young person. Kids just don't realize what can happen when they do things like that. I'm sure his sister will never forget what she did even though is was an accident and the parents must deal with the loss of a child.
In the hands of some people a car is a weapon that they can't control.
This brings up a question of should kids be able to drive a car at the age of 16? Go to the BMV and watch the number of parents that come in with their kids who are of legal age but look as if they are 10 years old and maybe with the same mentality.
Adults should use common sense before letting a child drive and not just think of the fact that they will not have to drive them arond any more.

NICE EVENING WITH FRIENDS.

Yesterday it was bitter cold and I was sitting at home doing nothing. My friends, Dalene and Steve called and asked it I would like to go to Michigan City, Indiana to see their light display along the lake front. I was picked up at 5:00 and off we went. It is a good drive to where we were going. Along the way we had good conversation and laughs which helped us forget our troubles.
Steve and Dalene have been going to this display for at least 10 years and they said it was worth the trip. It was. It was free and they had hundreds of lighted displays. Santa's, bears, fire trucks, light houses and many many more displays that were just beautiful. We drive around taking our time to take in all the lights. I must add at this point that the display at Hidden Lake in, I believe, is located in Merrillville, Indiana where you have to pay to get in is a big loser compared to Michicgan City.
After leaving the light display, food became the topic and the place chosen was Matty's steak and sea food in Michicgan City located near the light display. I chose the fish and chip basket. Basket it was not. The food came on a huge platter with 8 pieces of fish and tons of waffle fries, prior to that I had a salad. The desert for the day was a warm brownie with chocolate syrup with ice cream on the side. When that came the brownie was huge and an ice cream ball on each side with a dot of red syrup on top of each. Dalene commented that she had never seen desert come with breasts before. That is what the ice cream balls resembled. When the bill came, my money wasn't any good. The good food and desert took it's toll on me because my sugar level when I took it this morning was 242. Not good. But then again I don't do that every day.
When we left the eating establishment is was almost a full scale blizzard because Michicgan City was to get almost 10 inches of snow. As we drove closer to Schererville the snow had stopped and this morning we had nothing.
I want to say thanks to Steve and Dalene for a wonderful fun filled evening with great lights, food and of course company.
